1. Go for a walk
If you don’t have anything planned right after work, don’t be in a rush to get home as soon as possible. Actually, a nice walk outside will do you a world of good, especially if you head towards a green area such as a park or riverbank. Generally, the best practice would be to go for a walk at the place you personally find beautiful and relaxing. Walking is such a simple activity yet it helps your body and mind recover considerably. Different sights will relax your eyes, the routine of your steps will calm your heart rate and breathing, while the actual movement will boost your blood circulation. This activity will also help you practice mindfulness, which might be essential if you tend to get rather stressed out at work.
2. Clear your mind
In case you feel drained and tired and definitely not up for a walk or any kind of activity, head home and do your best to clear your mind. You can do this by lying down on your bed or sofa, closing your eyes and relaxing your muscles completely. Make sure that you keep your gadgets turned off. So, no TV or music in the background for this particular practice and definitely no playing on your phone. Relax for a while like this in complete silence so that you can effectively empty your mind from all the negative thoughts that might be causing you stress.
3. Eat/drink something soothing
Comfort food doesn’t have to be junk food. Actually, after initial relief, eating junk food can only aggravate your feelings of stress and anxiety. Not to mention that the chances are your gut will be upset, too. Instead of hurling over to junk food, opt for soothing foods and drinks instead. For instance, you can make a camomile tea with honey and pair it with avocado toast or strawberries dipped in dark chocolate. 4. Do something you love

This can be a hobby such as painting, drawing, cooking, playing an instrument, and so on but it can also be a rather simple activity such as watching TV, reading a book or listening to music. In general, activities that bring you joy are a great way to fill up your free time after work for you to effectively de-stress. Obviously, if you’re going to watch TV or listen to music, opt for your favorite genres.
5. Spend time with your friends
There are different kinds of stress at work and you might really need to spend time with people you love and who understand you once you’re done for the day. That said, call your friends or family members and arrange a meeting so that you can go to dinner or maybe even hang out at your place. All in all, a good heartfelt talk with someone close to you can do you a lot of good and help you forget about work-related problems. And if you decide to go out with colleagues from work, make it a point that you don’t discuss work at all. Don’t let the stress burn you out, especially when work is concerned. Even if you find your job to be challenging, there are always ways to overcome difficulties. You might need to organize yourself better, slow down or be open with your colleagues and boss. Or, it might be time to look for another job if this one has become too difficult to handle.
